Savoir-Faire

At the heart of the Ludovic de Saint Sernin label is its savoir-faire. From design inception, through to make and delivery to clients a more meaningful approach is adopted. Firstly, every Ludovic de Saint Sernin piece is designed to last forever. Although seasonal you will find repeat pieces within each collection. The idea is to give a longer life to garments, which is better for the client and the planet. The best fabrics are chosen to ensure longevity, support the integrity of the design and to feel good against the body.

The majority of the clothing and accessories including underwear is produced in France. Why? Ludovic de Saint Sernin believes in the know how of French ateliers who have an accumulative knowledge spanning generations. Also it means that he and his team can maintain regular, personal contact with each workshop, some of which are based within walking distance of the Ludovic de Saint Sernin atelier, located in the Marais.

When items are not produced in France the supply chain is kept as short as possible. For knitwear, Ludovic de Saint Sernin works with one of his best friends who set up a small design and sampling unit in London. Here all prototypes and some short runs of production of knitwear are made. Where this is not possible production is done in small workshops in Italy and Portugal. Leather, which has become an important part of the ready-to-wear and bag collections, are made in a workshop in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Here the owner of the atelier has over 20 years experience working with the best quality skins and he shares our passion for sexy, provocative leather pieces.

The jewellery collection has become an integral element of the Ludovic de Saint Sernin collection. It is designed in-house and developed by Goossens a metier d’art of Chanel based on the outskirts of Paris.

Ludovic de Saint Sernin believes in only working with the very best. Therefore when incorporating crystals into his collection he turned to Swarovksi. An on-going relationship exists with Swarovski for jewellery and embellished ready-to-wear. Ludovic de Saint Sernin often incorporates handmade elements such as ceramics within the collection. There is also a burgeoning homeware collection of ceramics. These are all done in close collaboration with an artist in London, who also produces the very limited production runs.
